For 50 years, the Dalhousie Arts Centre has been integral to the arts community on our campus and in our city. It is the only arts complex of its kind in Nova Scotia and includes the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium, the Dalhousie Art Gallery, and the Fountain School of Performing Arts.

Of the numerous performing arts spaces in the Dalhousie Arts Centre, the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium is the most familiar and prestigious. The 1,023 seat concert hall is the home of Symphony Nova Scotia, as well as the venue of choice for a wide variety of performers ranging from Ballet Jorgen, Just For Laughs, Billy Connolly, Vance Joy, Bill Burr, Ron Sexsmith, John Prine and Gord Downie, to name a few.

The Arts Centre’s other performing and visual arts spaces include the Sir James Dunn Theatre (194 seats), the David Mack. Murray Theatre (approx. 80 seats), the MacAloney Room (90 seats), the Sculpture Court and the Dalhousie Art Gallery.

The Dalhousie Art Gallery mounts national and international touring exhibitions and initiates many ambitious and exciting programs, making art accessible to our campus community and broader public. Entrance to the gallery is free of charge.

The Fountain School of Performing Arts (FSPA) is the only multi-disciplinary performing arts school in Eastern Canada, offering university degrees in theatre, music, and cinema & media studies. FSPA’s full production schedule of plays and concerts, student and faculty recitals, and more can be found at dal.ca/performingarts.
